WRENS, Ga. - Mr. Miller "Cotton" Brown, 77, of Matthews Highway, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Gethsemane Baptist Church, Avera, with the Rev. Carlos Newton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Brown, a native of Jefferson County, had retired as a truck driver and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and assistant chairman of the deacon board.
The family said, "Miller was a friend to all that knew him, always helping others."
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Brown; six sons, Leotis Brown, Edward Brown, Roger Brown, Roy Brown, Dennis Brown and Jessie Brown, all of Wrens; three daughters, Helen Knight, Augusta, and Joyce Stone and Carrie Kelly, both of Wrens; a brother, Willie Brown, Jersey City, N.J.; a sister, Sally Smith, Augusta; two stepbrothers, J.C. Stone, Council, N.C., and J.T. Stone, Florida; three stepsisters, Edna Robinson, Jersey City, and Alda Farmer and Mary Farmer, both of Wrens; and 29 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Leotis Farmer, Calvin Brown, Wallace Nelson, Morris Simpkins, Melvin Usry, Jamie Jordan, Charles Roberts and Eric Hannah.
Friends may call at the residence or at Burnett Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the church.
