Georgia Southern notebook

For the fourth time in as many seasons, Georgia Southern will open the NCAA I-AA playoffs at home.

The Eagles, based on their 9-2 record RPI (ratings percentage index) ranking and automatic berth earned as Southern Conference champion, were pre-awarded a first-round home site five days before Sunday's announcement of the 16-team championship tournament bracket.

Georgia Southern will find out Sunday who its opponent will be for the Nov. 25 game at Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro.

Tickets, priced at $18 for adults, $8 for youth (17 and under, grass seating) and $5 for Georgia Southern students with ID, go on sale today at the Cowart Building Ticket Office on Lanier Drive. For more information, call the GSU Athletic Ticket Office at (800) GSU-WINS or (912) 681-0123.
