SWAINSBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Sypper Youmans Youngblood, 93, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at Emanuel County Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Mrs. Youngblood, a native of Emanuel County, had retired as a schoolteacher, and was a volunteer at Emanuel Medical Center, during which she received a 30-year pin from Emanuel County Chapter Blood Program. She was awarded the Exchange Club Golden Deeds Award in 1978 and Georgia College & State University Heritage Award in 1999, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority named her Lady of the Year in 1982, Emanuel County Heart Association named her Queen of Hearts in 1992 and she was Grand Marshall of Pinetree Festival Parade in 1994. She was a charter member of Swainsboro Garden Club, an honorary member of Kiwanis Club and a member of Governor David Emanuel Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years, director of Women's Missionary Union, Circle leader and Girls Auxiliary and Royal Ambassador leader.
Survivors include a son, Jay Youngblood Sr., Swainsboro; a daughter, Sarah Youngblood, Statesboro; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jay Youngblood Jr., Garry Pittman, Bob Youmans, Garland Thompson, Bill Youngblood III and John Claxton.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of TEL-Joy Sunday School Class and Sypper Youngblood Women's Missionary Union Circle of First Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary.
