Mr. Lee Martin Herndon, 73, of Elizabeth Drive, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at University Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Adam Simpson officiating.
Mr. Herndon, a native of Jasper, Fla., was an Army veteran and had retired as a mechanic from the Maintenance Department of Federal Paper Board after 30 years. He was Protestant.
The family said, "He was a loving husband, father and `Poppy' and a friend to everyone."
Survivors include his wife, Frances Yager Herndon; two sons, Alan Herndon and Terry Herndon, both of Hephzibah; three daughters, Dianne Petro, Evans, Barbara Bohannon, Augusta, and Connie Herndon, Gig Harbor, Wash.; two brothers, Wade Goolsby, Jennings, Fla., and Wayne Goolsby, Jasper; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road.
