Benefits from fine hospitals

Almost four years ago a log truck crossed the centerline and hit my pickup head on. I was the only occupant and was severely injured. I wasn't supposed to live.

Thanks to the good care I received for 61 days in the Medical College of Georgia's shock trauma unit, seven weeks at Walton Rehabilitation, and Augusta Veterans Hospital spinal cord unit for three years as an outpatient, I'm living.

My family and I are thankful so many relatives, friends and people we didn't know have prayed, worked and contributed to the success of my recovery.

Even though I'm paralyzed from my armpits down and have other problems, there are many things I can do, due to the care received at home and the truly outstanding medical facilities.

We can all be proud to be in the Central Savannah River Area and have access to these fine hospitals.
