I am glad to see someone with a vision concerning the use of the Savannah River. It seems only North Augusta and the five industries that use the river know it's a valuable regional asset.
With the Environmental Protection Agency limiting the amount of water drawn from wells, the river is the only future source for the water needed for expansion. I'm sorry Augusta's elected officials are so involved in mishandling the government that they won't do what's needed to keep the one asset that can make the Central Savannah River Area a growing, rather than dying area.
It's a small price to pay for a partnership to keep the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam and its valuable pool of water. I thank North Augusta leaders for their support, and wish we had their leadership on the Augusta side of the river.
