WINCHESTER, Ind. -- Larry Foyt, the son of four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt, won the first pole of his ASA career in qualifying Saturday night at Winchester Speedway.
The younger Foyt turned a lap of 114.972 mph, breaking the 20-year-old ASA track record of Mark Martin.
"I had a good car all day, but I was saving things for qualifying," Foyt said. "I didn't want to show all that I had. It was a good lap, but I didn't think it would hold up."
