Mr. Jimmy Thornton



TIGNALL, Ga. - Mr. James Walker "Jimmy" Thornton, 63, of Danburg Road, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Fishing Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Cates officiating.

Mr. Thornton, a lifelong resident of Sandtown Community, was an Army veteran and a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Bohler Thornton; a son, Jeff Thornton, Tignall; a daughter, Beth Armour, Rayle; a brother, Robert Thornton, Jackson; four sisters, Jo Ann Hart, Beech Island, Emma Jean Jones and Marilyn Newsome, both of Washington, and Becky Thomasson, Tignall; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Morgan Smith, Doug Evans, Gary Ware, Wade Bryant, Leonard Fain, J.P. McCorkle, Zan Bunch and Greg Andrews.

Memorials may be made to Fishing Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Sandtown Road, Tignall, GA 30668; or to Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6556 Elberton Highway, Tignall, GA 30668.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Hopkins Funeral Home, Washington.
