Mr. Marion Strickland Sr.



AIKEN - Mr. Marion Daniel Strickland Sr., 74, of Erksine Lane, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rivers Funeral Home with the Revs. Richard Swift and Dean Hill officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.

Mr. Strickland, a native of Moultrie, Ga., was a Navy veteran of World War II, was former owner of A-1 Appliance and was co-owner of Unique Sweeper Service. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10601.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean McGee Strickland; a son, Danny Strickland, Ridge Spring; two daughters, Charmaine S. Kelley, Baltimore, and Gail S. Thompson, Aiken; a brother, Donald Strickland, Havana, Fla.; two sisters, Marjorie Dudan and Betty Riggs, both of Crystal River, Fla.; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Strickland, Scot Thompson, Trey Strickland, Tommy Strickland, Gary Hall and Jimmy Marshall.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box K, Aiken, SC 29802.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
