A look at the No. 24 Georgia Bulldogs (1-1, 0-1 SEC) one day before they play host to New Mexico State (0-2) on Saturday (1 p.m., pay-per-view):

Latest news:

Running back Jasper Sanks said his ankle injury will keep him out of Saturday's game. He suffered the injury late in the Bulldogs' 21-10 loss at South Carolina on Sept 9.

Injuries:

RB Musa Smith (rotator cuff) is questionable, as are DT Marcus Stroud (wrist), TE Randy McMichael (foot) and TEs Randy McMichael (foot) and Jevaris Johnson (ankle).

Key stat:

Of the Bulldogs' four leading tacklers, three are from the secondary - FS Jermaine Phillips (19), SS Terreal Bierria (17) and CB Jamie Henderson (13).

Analysis:

With Sanks supposedly out, Saturday's game should serve as a stage for a breakaway running back to emerge. The Bulldogs need a back who hits the holes fast, so Burce Thornton and DeJuan Green figure to have ample opportunity to show they belong.
