A Former North Augusta Mayor was arrested Wednesday for drug possession and distribution charges.
D. Kim Ledford was arrested at about 2:45 p.m. at his residence in the city, North Augusta Public Safety Capt. Randy Mosley said. He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine, intent to distribute marijuana and intent to distribute crack cocaine, Capt. Mosely said.
Mr. Ledford had been under investigation for several months.
While authorities served a search warrant for Mr. Ledford's arrest two men appeared at the former mayor's house in the Martintown 3 subdivision, Capt. Mosely said.
The men, Kenneth Barnard Williams, 19, of the 100 block of Telfair Street and Michael Oliver Aaron, 31, of the 200 block of Telfair Street, were arrested on drug possession charges, police said.
Capt. Mosley added that under cover agents had purchased drugs at Mr. Ledford's house during the investigation.
