A look at the No. 11 Clemson Tigers two days before they travel to Virginia (3:30 p.m., ABC-Channel 6):
Virginia coach George Welsh is impressed with Clemson quarterback Woody Dantzler's scrambling ability. The Cavaliers' scout-team has no way of duplicating Dantzler's improvisational skills, and Welsh is concerned his defense may be tormented by designed scrambles.
DTs Jason Holloman (ankle) and Terry Jolly (calf) missed the Wake Forest game but are expected to play Saturday. OL Jermyn Chester will miss at least the next two games after having arthroscopic surgery to repair torn knee cartilage.
Dantzler leads the ACC in rushing (91.7 ypg) and pass efficiency (185.3 efficiency rating).
Dispelling the notion that Clemson's offensive philosophy is pass first, the Tigers lead the ACC in rushing (292.7 ypg). The Tigers will use that aspect to keep the Cavaliers honest and eventually freeing up passing lanes.
"They're usually breathing so hard they can't hear it." -- Clemson coach Tommy Bowden on opposing defensive linemen intercepting the Tigers' audibles at the line of scrimmage.
