Daughter of Siphon tops Keeneland session

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A filly by multimillionaire Siphon brought a top price of $190,000 during Monday's session of Keeneland's September Yearling Sale.

Bruce Headley bought the filly out of Miss Represented, an unraced daughter of Sovereign Dancer. Lakland LLC, as agent, sold the filly.

Siphon earned $2,294,810 in North America after a successful racing career in his native Brazil. His first foals are yearlings this year.

Keeneland sold 287 horses for $8,272,800, an average of $28,825, during Monday's eighth session. By comparison, last year 297 horses brought $7,747,900, an average of $26,087, during the corresponding session.

To date, 2121 horses have been sold for a sale record $271,936,100, an average of $128,211. At this point in the auction a year ago, 2200 horses had been sold for $220,977,400. The average was $100,444. The sale continues through Saturday.
