N. Augusta man dead from gunshot wound



A North Augusta man is dead after a bar room argument over who would pay for the beer.

Witnesses said the men were drinking at the Highlander Pub on Georgia Avenue in North Augusta Monday evening when they began to argue over who was going to pay the tab.

One of the men pulled a gun and shot the other in the chest. The shooter then ran from the bar and up Georgia Avenue.

Lt. Tim Pearson with North Augusta Public Safety said the victim was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital where he died. The man's identity will not be released until his next of kin is contacted.

Police were searching for the shooter who is white, about 160 pounds, with dark hair and dark mustache wearing a black hat and a denim shirt.
