I'd like to know who did the research for Columbia County school system's new schedule?
I am referring to Lakeside Middle School and Lakeside High School, where planning and traffic control is extremely bad.
My 14-year-old daughter started her first year of high school today. Thank God the school itself is more organized than the traffic control...
I have been a parent for over 18 years and for 15 of those years I have take my two daughters back and forth to school. My husband was in the military and we have lived in many places and have seen many traffic problems, but none as bad as what I saw today. I know the first days of school are always a little crazy, but this was mass hysteria.
It may not be as bad in areas where the middle school and high school are not across the street from each other, but in the case of Lakeside Middle and Lakeside High, what were they thinking?
I know I am not the only parent upset by this mess as I spoke to others while I was waiting. Even one of Columbia County's finest was shaking her head in disbelief. There was a lot of traffic just when one of the schools was dismissed. Now there are two...
Something needs to be done, and done now. Please do not wait until someone's life is ruined or ended. I certainly hope that there will be more deputies directing traffic and not just for this next week, but for the entire school year in order to ensure the safety of everyone concerned.
