Russian workmanship falls short

Regarding the sunken Russian submarine, I spent 11 unhappy years in Soviet-occupied countries and the unhappiest four years in the Soviet "paradise." Being a reasonably high-ranking engineering scientist who worked many years with the Soviet industry, I wish the American media would show the huge difference between a Russian product and worker compared to the superiority of American products and workers.

The Soviets many times asked our (Hungarian) scientists to help solve their problems. The only good thing I found in the Soviet system was their sense of humor.

One Soviet scientist asked me, "Bela, do you know how to sink a Soviet boat or submarine?" He answered, "Put them in the water." Four hundred feet of water is not a dangerous depth in the U.S. or any other advanced industrialized country.
