STATESBORO, Ga. - Mr. J. Shields Kenan, 84, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Georgia War Veterans Home, Augusta.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Statesboro First United Methodist Church with Dr. Don Adams and the Rev. Karen Prevatt officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Mr. Kenan, a native of Statesboro, was an Army veteran of World War II. He was the founding president of Bulloch County Historical Society and former president of Statesboro Rotary Club. He was former editor of Rotary Club's Fifty Year History and editor and publisher of Bulloch Times for ten years. He was a member of Statesboro First United Methodist Church where he was chairman of the board and lay speaker.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Trapnell Kenan; two sons, James S. Kenan, Brooklet, and Gregory Kenan, Wilmington, N.C.; two daughters, Carolyn Bryant, Atlanta, and Sharon Harvell, Wilmington; two stepdaughters, Lynn Latimer and Ellen Clements, both of Augusta; and 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Smith, Albert Burke, Max Manack, Edwin Hill, Johnny Adams and Si Waters.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Statesboro Rotary Club and Crusaders Sunday School Class of Statesboro First United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home, Statesboro.
