Fishing tournament news

Sponsoring a bass, crappie, catfish or other fishing tournament? Mail or fax your flyer or information to Outdoor Editor, The Augusta Chronicle, P.O. Box 1928, Augusta, Ga. 30903-1928. Sept. 23, Little River Marina

Sponsored by Twin Cities Bassmasters, a pre-registration meeting will be held Sept. 21 at American Sportsman on Washington Road from 6 p.m., to 7 p.m. Entry fee is $50 per team with $5 per team big fish pot. Thanks to sponsors Federal Medical Supply and Pair of Jacks.

Tournaments run through Aug. 19. Entry fee is $22 per boat. Hours are 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Five-fish limit per team or individual. Payback is based on number of boats entered. The Summer Saturday Night Classic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 5 p.m. to midnight and anglers must fish a minimum two regular season tournaments to qualify. John Lynch, five bass, 13 pounds, 2 ounces. Lamond Annas, five bass, 11 pounds, 7 ounces. Ben Cochran, five bass, 9 pounds, 7 ounces. Big fish: Martin Bauer, 6 pounds, 3 ounces. Eighteen fishermen caught 43 bass weighing 86 pounds, 4 ounces and most were released alive.

Saturday Morning Open Team

William and Mark Fulmer, six bass, 11 pounds. Mark Blackburn and Mike Guilbeau, six bass, 7 pounds, 9 ounces. Ron Brown and Dennis Bullard, four bass, 6 pounds, 6 ounces. Big fish: The Fulmers, 5 pounds, 12 ounces.

Entry fee is $30. Regular tournaments are sponsored by Chuck's Lakeside Marine, Willoughby Ford of Thomson, Ga., and Sportsman's Link of Martinez and will be held every Saturday from safe light until 1 p.m., until further notice. Tournaments will not be held when dates conflict with Clark Hill Committee events. Classic will be held the last weekend of February from safe light until 4 p.m. Entry fee is $50 per team, $10 of which goes into the big fish pot. Anglers must fish a minimum of six SMOT events to qualify, or two events (with an extra $100 entry fee) to fish the Classic. For more information: Dennis Bullard, 541-0870.

Fort Gordon Sportsman's Club

Entry fee is $10 per member, $20 per non-member, optional $5 big fish pot, with a 60 percent payback. Registration is with the club prior to the tournament or 30 minutes before the event's start.
