State Rep.-elect Sue Burmeister buried her opponent to win her District 114 House seat in the Georgia General Assembly. She has no challenger in the general election, so she has the position locked up.
She's a hard worker and knew her district's concerns - and that helped her at the polls, as did the embarrassingly low voter turnout.
But Burmeister didn't win by herself. She had a cadre of political advisers who worked every angle every step of the way and plowed the ground for her. Now, as with every successful election, there are those who may feel they own a piece of Burmeister.
Burmeister is a rookie, but she's very smart. While she has to appreciate the help and advice received from her closest supporters, she also has to politely distance herself from would-be puppeteers.
