The Augusta Chronicle, the state Department of Transportation and city traffic engineers want to keep Augustans informed about when and where road work is scheduled to occur. An updated list of area road projects for the week appears Sundays in The Chronicle.
Traffic officials advise drivers to avoid construction areas by taking alternate routes, if possible. Please note, transportation crews' work schedules are tentative and can be delayed by weather conditions or equipment malfunctions:
Today: Exit ramp 3B from Bobby Jones Expressway westbound to Gordon Highway eastbound will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Monday-Thursday: There will be nightly lane closures on Bobby Jones Expressway westbound between Scott Nixon Memorial Drive and Deans Bridge Road (U.S. Highway 1).
Beginning Monday: The intersection of Hephzibah-McBean, Brothersville Road and Story Mill roads will be closed for about two weeks while construction crews work to add new turn lanes to the area. Detours will be posted.
Ongoing: Wrightsboro Road at Bobby Jones Expressway is being widened to add turn lanes for interstate access.
