Some coaches are good. Some are great. Then there are the legends - like Lincoln County football coach Larry Campbell.
The Red Devils' head coach Saturday became only the third Georgia coach inducted into the National Federation of State High School Associations Hall of Fame. He was in very elite company. Among other inductees were NBA Hall of Fame forward Kevin Hale.
Campbell's 27-year career is truly mythical. His 327 wins, 47 losses and three ties include nine state championships and 23 regional titles.
And the Peach State's newest Hall of Famer isn't through yet. Campbell's only 51 years old as he prepares for his 28th fall campaign. Who knows how many more titles his charges will win?
We join in congratulating coach Campbell, while noting he graciously credits his success to the youngsters he has coached and the support he has received from the school administration and community through the years.
