Police arrested seven Columbia County men Wednesday night after a drug raid in the King Villas neighborhood off Washington Road.
During the raid at 3188 McCladdie Drive, Appling, police confiscated a half pound of crack cocaine, a pound of marijuana and $2,402 in cash.
"This has been an ongoing investigation that we've had for the past two months," said Lt. Clay Smith of the Columbia County Sheriff's Office Special Operations Division.
The following individuals were arrested and charged with one count each of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute: Gordon Latrelle McCladdie Jr., 24; Damion Clinton McCladdie, 17; George Rodney Reid, 20; Joseph Wilson Richard, 46; Marlon Orlando Tutt, 21; and Carlos Enrico Dunn, 23.
Eric Jerell Jackson, 24, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. Mr. Jackson also was charged with trafficking cocaine because he had more than 28 grams on him at the time of the arrest, Lt. Smith said.
Police have been working with area residents to clean up the neighborhood. The subdivision has a history of drug trafficking, Lt. Smith said.
