Mr. Maurice Steinberg, 86, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Adas Yeshurun Synagogue with Rabbi Alex Greenbaum officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Steinberg, a native of Augusta, was a real estate agent and general practice attorney. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a graduate of University of Georgia School of Law. He was former campaign chairman and president of Augusta Jewish Federation and former president of B'nai B'rith International District 5. He was a member of Augusta Bar Association, Southeastern Region Anti-Defamation League and Adas Yeshurun Synagogue, where he was a board member and chairman of Adas Yeshurun Synagogue Education Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Cohen Steinberg; three sons, Henry Steinberg, Stephen Steinberg and Barry Steinberg, all of Augusta; a daughter, Lynn Steinberg, Atlanta; a brother, Maxwell Steinberg, New Port Richey, Fla.; two sisters, Sarah Pillersdorf and Theresa Rosenthal, both of Augusta; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Andrew D. Steinberg, Henry Siegelson, Michael Cohen, Harvey Pillersdorf, Melvin Berlinsky, Stephen Steinberg, Albert Rosenthal Jr. and Tracy Holzer.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Augusta Bar Association.
