Re report in The Chronicle's May 1 Carolina section about the students at University of South Carolina-Aiken who were graduating with 4.0 scholastic averages.
While I'm very proud of the five students, I had to cringe when I read a quote from one of the students who said, "I got a scholarship at every school I was accepted at."
I hope the reporter, Lisa M. Lohr, would have recognized this grammatical error, too. Would it not be correct to express, "I was offered scholarships from every school where I was accepted"?
Oh, well, this is the new grading system that I have difficulty accepting.
