It was my pleasure to serve with Dr. Ike Washington on the board of trustees of the Augusta-Richmond County Museum. Dr. Washington served several terms on the board and wisely guided the museum in its move from Telfair Street to its present location.
It was his calming influence that made my term of office as president of the board meaningful. On many occasions I consulted with Dr. Washington regarding matters involving trustees and policies. His laid-back considerate demeanor always prevailed when we exchanged views.
I shall always remember him as a special person dedicated to serving people and his community. Augusta has been fortunate to have had the services of such a fine gentleman.
