The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association has released its rosters for its summer all-star games. The annual Scottish Rite Georgia-Florida all-star football game will be played June 17 at 6 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.
The Georgia boys and girls all-star basketball teams will play in a tournament with against teams from Tennessee, Florida and South Carolina on June 9-10 in Lakeland, Fla.
No Augusta-area athletes will play in the football or basketball games, but several local athletes will compete in the GACA North-South all-star softball, basketball and football games scheduled for July 17-19 in Columbus.
The softball game will be played July 17 at 5 p.m.
The North-South girls and boys basketball games will be played at Columbus State on July 18, with the girls game starting at 6 p.m. and the boys following at 8. The only local athlete competing in either game is Josey's Kenya Thompkins, who will play on the South team.
Five local athletes will compete in the North-South football game at Columbus State on July 19. Washington-Wilkes' Jerry Brown and Adam Thornton and Lincoln County's Marcus Ramsey will lead the North all-stars against Butler's Ben Troupe and Carlos Rogers. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
HEPHZIBAH GOLF TOURNEY:
The first annual Hephzibah Pigskin Classic Golf Tournament will be played June 3 at Applewood Golf Course.
The format will be four-person teams with entry fees of $40 per person or $160 per team, which include green fees, a cart and prizes. The first-place award includes three autographed footballs by the 1998-99 Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos.
