I was sorry to learn of the passing of Georgia Reid at 102.
As a writer of local history for Augusta Magazine, I first met Miss Reid in 1984 when the Bon Air Hotel was being renovated, and reported her memories of the structure.
She also told me her recollections for other stories, including the Partridge Inn in 1986, and Lankey's Pond in 1987.
She was a refined lady, but had an enthusiasm for those and other topics which I felt enriched the stories.
Of the Bon Air, which she had lived near as a child, she noted about her neighbor, "It was just elegance. That's the word for it, elegance."
Same for Miss Reid.
