Augusta Prep runner wins 3200-meter championship

David Bell a sophomore at Augusta Prep, won his second consecutive Georgia Independent Schools Association state championship in the 3200-meter run yesterday in Albany, Ga. Bell's time of 10:18.3 was one second faster than his winning time at last year's tournament.

Bell will attempt to win his second state championship this year today at 10 a.m. in the 1600-meter run. David placed sixth in this event in last year's championship as a freshman with a time of 4:48.

"I feel real good about tomorrow," said Bell, "I have a real shot of winning."

Bell is looking forward to the next two years of his career and hopes to continue his championship runs. While there are many personal achievements that David hopes to accomplish before graduation, he mentions one that is near the top of the list.

"Hopefully I can break two mile run record by the time I graduate."
