WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. John Willie Wright Sr., of Georgia Highway 25 South, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Doctors Hospital, Augusta.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. James Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Wright, a native of Burke County, was a jailer and transport officer at Burke County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
The family said, "He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother to his family and will be greatly missed."
Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Wright; two sons, John Willie Wright Jr., Waynesboro, and Christopher R. Wright, Statesboro; four daughters, Juanita A. Sheffield, Jacksonville, Fla., Willa F. Terry and Geneva Wright, both of Waynesboro, and Tammy L. Hill, Warner Robins; a sister, Rosa Lee Moore, Waynesboro; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Henry Bush Jr., Gregory Coursey, David McFeely, Wayne Scott, Larry Mack and Jimmy Golden.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the residence or at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home.
