Mr. Russell "Dude" Shephard Jr., 18, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Georgia Regional Medical Center South East, Brunswick.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Grove Baptist Church, Hiltonia, with the Rev. John Herman officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Hiltonia.
Mr. Shephard, a native of Augusta, was a carpenter.
The family said, "He was a kind-hearted, honest and understanding young man who will always be remembered in our hearts."
Survivors include his father, Russell Shephard Sr., Sardis; his mother, Mary Shephard, Waynesboro; three brothers, Kendrick Cox, Sardis, Williams Durham, Waynesboro, and Jimmy Williams, Camp Stanley, South Korea; three sisters, Camia Freeman, Sardis, and Sherecka Shephard and Antoinette Shephard, both of Waynesboro; his paternal grandmother, Sarah Shephard, Sardis; his maternal grandfather, Oliver Durham, Hastin, Fla.; his maternal grandmother, Olien Frank, Sardis; and his maternal stepgrandfather, James Willie Frank, Waynesboro.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Nelson, James Mobley, Lewis Kelly, Frank Bonner, Alvin Perkins and Calvin Perkins.
Friends may call at the residence or at Phinzaee and Son Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
