HARLEM - Mr. Ernest "Edward" Akins Jr., 53, of Appling-Harlem Highway, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Old Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Yarbrough officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Akins, a native of Washington, was a member of Old Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Woods Akins; three sons, Eddie Akins, Hephzibah, and Robert Akins and Ronnie Akins, both of Harlem; two daughters, Elaine Young, Thomson, and Patricia Akins, Harlem; a brother, Roger Lee Akins, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; four sister, Frances Key, Thomson, Gladys Braxton, Follie Beach, S.C., and Sarah Seeba and Kathryn Beasley, both of Harlem; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Akins, Robert Akins, Ronnie Akins, Scott Young, DeWayne Scholts and Lemar Woods.
Friends may call at the residence.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Starling Funeral Home.
