Mr. Lionel Blackstone



HEPHZIBAH -- Mr. Lionel Blackstone, 70, of Hephzibah-McBean Road, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m.Monday at DeLoach Funeral Home, Augusta, with the Rev. H.K. McKnight officiating. Burial will be in Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery, Blythe.

Mr. Blackstone, a native of Richmond County, had retired as a truck driver. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Golden Gloves boxer from 1951 to 1956.

Survivors include a son, James Lionel Blackstone; six brothers, William L. Blackstone, Hephzibah, Olin M. Blackstone, Waynesboro, Lloyd T. Blackstone, Gibson, Clifford E. Blackstone, San Antonio, H. Odell Blackstone, Sanford, Va., and Joseph Blackstone, Chicago; a sister, Donnie Bell Bolton, Gibson; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Richard Collins, Brien Hall, John Lastinger, Jimmy Blackstone, Bobby Goff Jr. and Jeff Rowe.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
