An April 3 front page story started with the Skyfest officials stating the event was a success. Give us a break.
It may have been a success for the officials, but not for the thousands of people who waited in stalled traffic for two or more hours parking and also trying to leave.
In my opinion, and I'm sure many more will back me up, the Richmond County Sheriff's Department owes the volunteers an apology. The article, if accurate, points the finger at the volunteers for the traffic snafu. I'm sure after reading it that the volunteers who gave up their weekend will come running back the next time to help out the deputies.
But let's have applause for the show itself. It seemed to be well done.
