Mr. Jose Antonio Serrano Sr., 72, of Lumpkin Road, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Jennings Nursing Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Cixto Luciano officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. Serrano, a native of Puerto Rico, had retired as an operator from E-Z-Go. He an Army veteran and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The family said: "Mr. Serrano was a loving and supportive father, grandfather, and brother with a strong sense of humor. A good soldier who served his country faithfully."
Survivors include three sons, Jose A. Serrano Jr., Edgar Serrano and Tomas Serrano, all of Augusta; three daughters, Ana M. Mercado, Maribel S. Mangum, and Elizabeth Curtis, all of Augusta; three brothers, Nelson Serrano, Augusta, Roberto Serrano, New York, and Alcides Serrano, Mount View, Calif.; five sisters, Doris Serrano, Mount View, Isabel Zapata, Puerto Rico, and Sandra Vega, Juanita Valentin and Carmen Valentin, all of New York; and 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mory Taylor, Sean Simmons, Philip Mangum, Andrew Serrano, Heriberto Serrano and Edgar Serrano.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
