MONTREAL -- The 2001 Bell Canadian Open will be held at the Royal Montreal Golf Club, which last hosted the PGA tournament three years ago.
This year's tournament is being played Sept. 7-10 at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ont.
The Royal Canadian Golf Association plans to move the tournament throughout the country after 2002 in hopes of getting the PGA Tour to give it a midsummer date.
Bill Paul, managing director of professional championships for the RCGA, said the decision to go to Montreal next year was easy following the success of the Open there in 1997. That tournament ended a run of 16 straight Canadian Opens at Glen Abbey.
"We felt, based on the success of 1997 it was time to put the Open on the road," he said.
