Mr. Chester Rand Jr.



Mr. Chester E. "Chet" Rand Jr., 70, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Family Church of Augusta with Ceasar Brooks officiating.

Mr. Rand, a native of Chester, Pa., had retired as a Chief Warrant Officer from the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a construction manager at Georgia Power, Baxley, and Vogtle Nuclear Power Plant, Waynesboro. He was a member of First Family Church of Augusta.

Survivors include his wife, Isabel Rand; three sons, Chester E. Rand III, Michael A. Rand and Mark R. Rand, all of Atlanta; three daughters, Marilyn Laura Marchant, Atlanta, Isabel R. Sears, Hephzibah, and Karen Alice New, Vidalia; a brother, Eugene Rand, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Dolores Buterbaugh and Alice Patterson, both of Florida; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Family Church of Augusta, 400 Warren Road, Augusta, GA 30907; or to American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road. The Augusta Chronicle March 2, 2000
