Aiken Tech looks for 29th win in 30 games

Aiken Tech (28-1) closes out the regular-season portion of its schedule today at 3 p.m. against visiting Clinton (S.C.) Junior College.

The Knights, who have had eight days off between games, are ranked No. 1 in the National Junior College Athletic Association poll. They opened the season with 27 straight wins before suffering a 90-74 loss to Spartanburg Methodist Feb. 15.

Aiken Tech's last outing was a 96-75 rout of Rockingham (N.C.) Community College a week ago Friday.

USC AIKEN: The Lady Pacers (15-10, 7-8) hope to snap a three-game losing streak and gain some momentum heading into the Peach Belt Athletic Conference tournament today against visiting Georgia College & State (16-9, 9-6) in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The USC Aiken men (12-12, 4-11), who did not qualify for the conference tourney, do have something at stake in tonight's 7:30 finale. The Pacers will look to finish above .500, but will have their work cut out against Georgia College & State (22-3, 13-2), the Peach Belt's Southern Division champion.

CLEMSON: The Tigers (9-17, 3-10), who occupy the cellar in the ACC and have lost two straight and four of the past five, return to action Sunday at 4 p.m. at North Carolina State (15-10, 5-9).

GEORGIA TECH: The Yellow Jackets (12-14, 4-9), coming off Thursday night's emotional victory over N.C. State in coach Bobby Cremins' first home game since announcing he would resign at the end of the season, will look to make it two wins in a row at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Wake Forest (14-13, 5-9).
