Bonita Jeffries clicked the send button on her computer and forgot all about it -- until her dreams of romance were answered to the tune of $10,000 and a tony evening for two in Atlanta.
Ms. Jeffries, who entered the Year of Living Romantically sweepstakes sponsored by the Lifetime network, won the grand prize, the channel announced on Valentine's Day. She not only won the money but also a date in Atlanta that will include limousine service, a high-priced meal and tickets to an entertainment event.
Ms. Jeffries, who is married to Jay Jeffries, former meteorologist on WRDW-TV (Channel 12), is a constant Lifetime viewer. She entered the contest through the network's World Wide Web site (www.lifetimetv.com).
"They were having this contest for the holiday, and I'm always entering their contests," she said. "I entered this one and forgot about it."
The network will coordinate the romantic evening, and plans for the night haven't been finished. So she isn't sure yet where she'll be eating or what event she'll be taking in, she said.
The Lifetime network, which touts itself as "the channel for women," runs contests through its computer site. Currently, it's taking baby pictures and will award a baby gift pack. The site also has information about an upcoming sweepstakes for a week-long trip to a spa for two friends, tied to the August premiere of its original series Any Day Now.
