Do you have to keep your secret trout recipe under lock and key? Does your family line up at the annual reunion for your venison chili? Is your wife always asking when hunting season is so you can make her favorite quail dish?
Then, it's time to enter the 11th annual Cookin' for Kids Wild Game and Fish Cookoff, scheduled Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds, a new location this year. In previous years, the cookoff was held at Julian Smith Casino.
Cash prizes and a trophy will be awarded to the first, second and third place teams. There are additional prizes for showmanship and a Grand Champion award.
Entry fees are $50 per category. Proceeds from the Cookin' for Kids benefit the Shelter and Advocacy Center for Abused Children. Entry deadline is March 8. For an entry form or information, call (706) 733-0375 or (706) 737-4631.
Cookin' for Kids is more than the cookout. In addition to games, rides and entertainment, wild and exotic animals will be featured.
Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the gate, with children under 12 admitted free accompanied by an adult. Call (706) 737-4631 or go to www.tixonline.com for ticket information.
