WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Jane Stembridge Ellis, 91, of Spring Valley Road, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Burke County Hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Al Wright officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Ellis, a native of Waynesboro, had graduated from Brenau College, Gainesville, and was a former drama and speech teacher for Burke County Board of Education. She was a member of Little Clubs of Gardens, Waynesboro Book Club and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 80 years, where she taught Sunday School for more than 40 years and was a member of Women's Missionary Union.
Survivors include a son, Baynard D. Ellis Jr., North Augusta; a daughter, Anne Ellis Johnson, Waynesboro; a sister, Frances S. Drayton, Sun City, Fla.; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Cates, B. Lamar Murray, Greg Coursey, Benny Cannady, Herbert Mobley and W.A. Brannen.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 853 Liberty St., Waynesboro, GA 30830.
