Coach: Pete Meadows, 7th year

1999 record: 27-6

Returning players: 2B Scott McQuaig (Sr., 5-7, 150); SS/P Sammy Reed (Sr., 5-10, 170); 3B Ryan Whittle (Jr., 6-0, 170); OF/1B Erik Hensley (Sr., 6-5, 200); OF/P Jordan Duke (Jr., 6-1, 185); C Greg Hendry (So., 5-9, 170).

Outlook: The Lions lost a wealth of talent from last season's state championship, including superstar B.J. Hawes as well as pitchers Stuart Price and Brett Newton. However, there is enough talent to make another run this season. Scott McQuaig is back to pace the offensive attack while the pitching rotation will likely build around the versatile Sammy Reed. Newcomers Brian Bennett and freshman Jordan Belcher are expected to bolster the pitching staff.

Outlook: Augusta Prep got clearance from the Georgia Independent Schools Association to play a non-region schedule this season. The Cavaliers will continue their rebuilding process with a wealth of underclassmen. The team will also play at a new on-campus field. The pitching staff will build around junior Mike Soucy.

Outlook: The Buccaneers lost a good bit of talent from last year's club but the good news is that three returning starters are seniors, including ace pitcher Aaron Phillips and the versatile Bo Fleming. Coach Dan Moore expects several underclassmen to step forward.
