MCCORMICK, S.C. -- Mr. Robert Kenneth Spangler, 76, of Windy Circle, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at University Hospital, Augusta.
Memorial services will be at 10.30 a.m. Saturday at Savannah Lakes Village Activity Center, McCormick, with the Rev. David S. Riner officiating.
Mr. Spangler, a native of Kingwood, W.Va., was a 1950 graduate of West Virginia University. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and had been deputy manager of Eastern Area office in Atlanta for American National Red Cross. He was one of three Red Cross officials to make a trip to Cuba exchanging medical supplies for Bay of Pigs invasion refugees. He was a past member of Kiwanis, Rotary and Elks Clubs. He was Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann McGinnis Spangler; three sons, Robert E. Spangler, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Thomas E. Spangler, Clinton; and Gregory M. Spangler of Grayson, Ga.; a daughter, Anne E. Spangler of Woodstock, Ga.; a sister, Jane S. Wade of Austin, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
