USC Aiken splits games at Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Jami Cornwell led five players in double figures with a 16 points and had seven assists, and the Pacers (14-7, 6-5) moved above the .500 mark in Peach Belt action with the 12-point victory.

Allison Nold added 15 points for USC Aiken, while Janell Gerk had 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Telma Ferreira and Jessica Greiner chipped in with 11 points, and Greiner had 10 rebounds.

USC Aiken returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, playing host to Armstrong Atlantic State.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Dain Brown and Chris Robinson combined for 46 points for the Pacers, but USC Aiken suffered its seventh loss in 11 Peach Belt games.

Brown had four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 26 points, while Robinson chipped in with 20 for USC Aiken (12-8, 4-7). The Pacers trailed by 15 at halftime and never recovered.

USC Aiken returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, playing host to Armstrong Atlantic State.

UNC Pembroke -- 52

PEMBROKE, N.C. -- Krystal Edwards scored a game-high 18 points and had three 3-pointers as the Lady Jaguars won their fourth Peach Belt game of the season by topping UNC Pembroke.

Augusta State (9-10, 4-7) also received 14 points from Sabrina Jones, while Faith Nixon and Justine Pivac chipped in with eight points apiece. Nixon also had a game-high 10 rebounds, while April Hartley and Christy Bromley aided the balanced scoring attack with six points.

PEMBROKE, N.C. -- Festus Hawkins led three Jaguars in double figures with 18 points, but Augusta State was unable to protect a six-point halftime lead in falling to UNC Pembroke.

Augusta State (10-10, 6-4), battling Lander (8-4) for first place in the Peach Belt's North Division, received 13 points apiece from Oliver Ottley and T.J. Ott, but the Braves outscored the Jaguars 44-31 after intermission to overcome a 43-37 halftime deficit.
