Local fans of MTV's Road Rules have been issued a challenge that might just land them on the popular show.
Audience members with the best sign supporting the show at Saturday night's World Wrestling Federation's Monster Truck Challenge will be picked for a behind-the-scenes look and VIP treatment during taping at Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.
"I think it's cool because it allows people to get on TV without being in the cast," said Todd Dahlke, associate producer. "It stirs people up and adds another element to the show."
The person with the best sign will be pulled from the audience during the event.
Road Rules is an on-the-road odyssey of six strangers traveling around the country in an RV. They are given missions to fulfill during the 10-week road trip. The show is in its ninth season.
This is the first year the show has done "face-offs," where the cast competes against a team of locals at events such as the Monster Truck Challenge. Saturday night is the second face-off for the present cast, fresh from a winter sports challenge in Park City, Utah.
The show's producers wouldn't reveal who the present cast members are, citing the need to keep their identity secret until the season premiere in June. It's also a secret as to what the teams will compete in (Hint: It's probably something involving monster trucks).
The local team of competitors was culled from applicants on the show's Web site.
