LAKE CITY, Tenn. -- Mr. Lemual Augustas Newman, 86, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with the Revs. Rick Teague and Tom Byrge officiating. Burial will be in Disney Cemetery.
Mr. Newman, a native of Grovetown, had retired as a coal miner from S&H Coal Co., Briceville. He was a member of Clifford Presbyterian Church, Grovetown.
The family said, "He was a friend to everyone and enjoyed helping people all his life."
Survivors include his wife, Alma Webb Newman; two sons, Roy Edward, Evans, and Lemual Augustas Newman Jr., Norris; three daughters, Yvonne Smith and Sarah Tammy Torres, both of Lake City, and Brenda N. Bancroft, North Augusta; a brother, Sam Newman, Augusta; two sisters, Ruby Reville and Elsie Cliatt, both of Grovetown; and 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
