MIDVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. Wade Hampton Franklin, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Midville Baptist Church with the Revs. James Bohannon, M.F. Price and Terry Joyner officiating. Burial will be in Midville City Cemetery.
Mr. Franklin, a native of Washington County, had retired as a dairy farmer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Woodmen of the World, Burke County Farm Bureau and was voted Georgia State Farmer of the Year when he was a teen-ager. He was a member of Midville Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent and a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Coglin Franklin; two sons, Howard Franklin, Watkinsville, and Jerome Franklin, Waynesboro; two daughters, Barbara Brantley, Watkinsville, and Betty Franklin, Atlanta; a brother, Billy Franklin, Warner Robins; a sister, Julia Polk, Cincinnati; and eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary, Swainsboro.
