LINCOLNTON, Ga. -- Mrs. Doris Smalley Cox, 79, of Leathersville Road, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Mason and Larry O. Martin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Cox, a native of Lincolnton, was a homemaker. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Doris Cox Missionary Circle.
The family said: "She had been happily married for 56 years. She loved her family, her church and her God."
Survivors include her husband, James Cox; three sons, John Cox, Greenwood, S.C., and George Cox and Leon Cox, both of Lincolnton; a daughter, Susan C. Bryant, Lincolnton; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Aycock, Eugene Bryant, Patrick Bryant, Donald Cox, Jamie Cox, Kevin Cox, Joe Estes and Eagle Hilton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rees Funeral Home.
