Ms. Maria Anthony Gavalas, 96, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Archangels Chapel with Father Anthony B. Gavalas officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemtery.
Ms. Gavalas, a native of Kalymnos Dodecanese Islands, Greece, had retired as a seamstress with Cullum's Department Store and Georgia Hatters and Cleaners. She was a member of Greek Orthodox church.
Survivors include two brothers, Basil A. Gavalas and Nicholas A. Gavalas, both of Augusta; and a sister, Anastasia A. Gavalas, Athens, Greece.
Pallbearers will be Phillip J. Phillips, Dennis Calamas, Joe N. Gavalas, Nicholas B. Gavalas, Michael B. Gavalas and John B. Gavalas.

The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. today and after the service Thursday at Elliotts Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street.
