Here they go again! Not a week after a Chronicle letter writer attacked George W. Bush for his handling of the Waco Branch Davidian uprising, even though he wasn't governor at the time, Herbert A. Edney IV (letter, Jan. 14) claims Mr. Bush has raised $160 million for his presidential campaign. The actual figure, of course, is $60 million.
Is it not possible for someone at The Chronicle to check letters for factual accuracy? The ignorance of these two letter writers is frightening.
I have not yet decided whom to support in the 2000 presidential campaign, but can't Gov. Bush's candidacy be opposed on a factual basis rather than on malicious falsehoods?
