THOMSON -- Mr. Grover C. Garrison, 77, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Doctors Hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dearing Baptist Church, with Dr. Mike Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Thomson.
Mr. Garrison, a native of Telfair County, had retired as a school principal at Dearing School after 28 years in the McDuffie County school system. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a graduate of University of Georgia. He was a member of McDuffie County Board of Education and a ranger with the Corps of Engineers for 10 years. He was a member of Dearing Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the adult Sunday school class. He was a founding member of Dearing Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Vera D. Garrison; two sons, Ronnie Garrison, Griffin, and Billy Garrison, Augusta; a brother, W.E. Garrison, Fitzgerald; three sisters, Inez Gillis, McRae, Maggie Bradley, Sansford, and Hortense Day, Douglas; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George Holliman, Darrell Wells, Bobby Aldred, T.E. Newby, Ralph Menees and Lem Brooks.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the adult Sunday school class and deacons of Dearing Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, and after the service Thursday at the residence of Hugh and Mary McGahee, Augusta Highway, Dearing.
